FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Onboarding Training

What exactly is Onboarding Training? Many organizations employ onboarding training schemes to bring in new employees into the organization smoothly. However, it is also used to help an organization manage the transition of workers who have recently joined the organization and/or have left the organization.

Organizationally, onboarding includes all efforts to identify, evaluate and create a workable skill set for the new employee or workers. They include everything from orientation and new employee training to skill and performance appraisals. All of these efforts are geared to reducing the skills gap or the difference between the workers on an individual level and their respective organizational goals and objectives. These strategies enable the employees to learn quickly and efficiently how to contribute to the organization's overall growth and success.

Why Is Onboarding Training Important? The process of onboarding helps a company to: get new employees up to speed on the company mission, vision and values. It also enables employers to reduce their employee turnover. It also empowers current employees to get new jobs faster by giving them new learning opportunities and a better chance to move up the ladder. Most importantly, it creates a workable culture where all individuals and teams are working together and contribute to the organization's future growth and success.

Who Are the Key participants in onboarding programs? The key players in an organization's onboarding program are the new hires and those who are transferred to the organization either from the permanent employment positions or as a result of terminating an employee. These individuals and teams bring diverse skills and experience that are combining to form a workable package for each employee. Together, they strive to integrate the new employer's expectations of the organization's management culture along with their own.

What is a Good Onboarding Program? To make the best onboarding program, you need to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your employees, and then assess your employees as a whole. A good onboarding program focuses on providing each new hire with the basic skills necessary for his or her role. These skills include problem solving, verbal and written communication, office etiquette and good working relationships. A program also needs to have structured training for new hires to ensure that they are equipped with the training they need and are ready to go when they are called upon. Finally, a good program develops a workable employee referral system to help attract good talent to the organization.

How is Learning Objectives Determined? Learning objectives are established so that employees know what to expect during the training. This ensures that everyone is on the same page. Moreover, learning objectives also encourage people to participate actively in the training, which strengthens their interest and promotes better performance.

Is Compliance Training required? Compliance training is also another key ingredient of an effective onboarding program. It is usually provided by the training authority at the time of hire. Compliance training will help employees understand their rights and responsibilities under the Companies Act and general business rules. This ensures that new hires understand both their legal and professional responsibilities.

As with all aspects of business life, an effective onboarding program requires careful planning, evaluation and implementation. If these elements are poorly executed, there is a strong likelihood of poor training, poor performance and, ultimately, disgruntled employees. Onboarding training should be a careful balance between staff development and ensuring that all employees feel involved and informed about their roles. This ensures that the training provides them with the information and skills they need to perform well and contribute to the success of the business.
